Seizures of prohibited and unauthorized items at Archambault Institution
SAINTE-ANNE-DES-PLAINES, QC, May 10, 2022 /CNW Telbec/ – From May 6 to 8, 2022Thanks to the vigilance of staff members, contraband and unauthorized items were seized at Archambault Institution, a multi-level federal institution.
The contraband and unauthorized items seized included 502 grams of tobacco and 193 grams of hashish. The total estimated institutional value of these seizures is $17,900.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) uses a number of tools to keep drugs out of its institutions. These tools include ion scanners and drug detection dogs to search buildings, personal property, inmates and visitors.
CSC is strengthening measures to prevent contraband from entering its institutions to help ensure a safe and secure environment for all. CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to bring contraband into correctional facilities.
CSC has also set up a hotline for all federal institutions so that it can receive additional information about security-related activities at CSC institutions. These activities may be related to drug use or trafficking which may threaten the safety and security of visitors, inmates and staff working in CSC institutions.
