Move Beyond organizes a career orientation workshop at the public school GD Goenka

Srinagar, 20th June 2022: National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar’s “Move Beyond” organization, a career counseling organization, held a career development workshop titled “Listening to you” on Monday with young students from the GD Goenka public school.

The event was chaired by NIT Srinagar Director, Prof. (Dr) Rakesh Sehgal who was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking to the students, they said there was a dire need for career guidance in the region.

“Move Beyond does a great service by bringing career services to students at their doorstep. Effective career guidance and counseling is essential for the comprehensive development of students,” he said.

On the occasion, NIT Srinagar Registrar, Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari who was the guest of honor said that career guidance and guidance helps students in a broader way to choose the right careers.

He said parents often impose their opinions on children and want them to choose a career of their choice.

“Our society needs to look beyond medicine and engineering and approach the world of work with an open mind,” Prof Bukhari said.

He said the idea is to inspire and provide direction to aspiring students who are in the process of making and shaping their careers.

Professor Bukhari said such initiatives were urgently needed and urged Move Beyond to continue these workshops in the future.

Director of IIEDC, NIT Srinagar, Dr. Saad Parvez shared his views on future career opportunities in a tech-driven world. He also shared how NIT Srinagar helps startups like Move Beyond establish their businesses and meet the demands of society through innovation.

Move Beyond CEO and International Certified Career Coach, Sheikh Inayat Ullah said the main goal of Move Beyond is to help students make informed career decisions and place them in the reputable institutions of the world.

He also said that students should abandon rote memorization and focus on concrete learning outcomes. “All professional success depends on the competence of an individual, which is the set of skills and the quantum of knowledge that one carries within oneself,” Sheikh said.

In his address, Principal GD Goenka Public School, Johnson PJ appreciated Move Beyond’s initiative to reach out to young talents and guide them in their careers.

Adil Zargar, Director of Human Resources and Skills Development, GD Goenka Public School, said career development is a process of acquiring skills and knowledge.

Since 2015, Move Beyond has been working on career development under the leadership of Sheikh Inayat Ullah. Professor Nisar Ali, a well-known economist, is the chief consultant of Move Beyond, Dr. Muslim Jan, former director of the public relations center of the University of Kashmir is the main consultant.

The startup has a mentoring team which includes Prof. Saad Parvez, Director of IIEDC, NIT Srinagar as Chief Mentor, Prof. Shabir Sofi, Prof. Ajaz Ahmad Mir, Prof. Ahsan Chisti and Ejaz Ayoub as mentors.
