Meet the Top 10 Graduates of 2022 from Global Learning Charter Public School

NEW BEDFORD – The following students are graduating from Global Learning Charter Public School at the academic top of the senior class.

1. Kassandra “Kassie” Furtado

Furtado is the daughter of Fatima and Roberto Furtado. She was a member of the GLCPS Band and Drama Club. Kassandra was also a member of the National Honor Society and was a teacher’s assistant. She will attend the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth as an engineering major.

2. Mason Frates

Frates is the son of Tracey and Richard Frates. He participated in the Global Karate Academy and the Dungeons and Dragons Club while a student at GLCPS. He will attend the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth as a computer science major.

3. Andrew Pytel

Pytel is the son of Kelly and John Pytel. While studying at GLCPS, Andrew completed an internship at a local pharmacy. He was also a teacher’s assistant. Andrew attends the University of Rhode Island where he will be a student in the Doctor of Pharmacy program.

4. Valeria Moldonado

Moldonado will attend the Lowcountry Technical College in South Carolina majoring in baking and pastry. While studying at GLCPS, she participated in bands, choirs, photography, and American Sign Language. She was also a member of the National Honor Society and the National Society of High School Scholars. She was also a teaching assistant.

5. Keimily Torres Medina

Torres Medina is the daughter of Amarilys Medina and Eliezer Torres. She was a member of the National Honor Society and participated in the American Sign Language Club while attending GLCPS. She plans to go to college in Florida and has not declared her major.

6. Lexie Tavares

Tavares is the daughter of Cidalia and Mark Tavares. She will attend Bristol Community College majoring in behavioral and social sciences.

7. Myles Tavares

Tavares is the son of Cidalia and Mark Tavares. He was a teacher’s assistant while studying at GLCPS. Myles will attend Bristol Community College where he will major in biology.

8. Sabrina Costa

Costa is the daughter of Antonieta and Domingos Costa. Sabrina served as class president her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She was a student ambassador and a member of the National Honor Society. She will attend the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth majoring in psychology.

9. Yairy Santos

Santos is the daughter of Leidy Santos. Yairy participated in the American Sign Language Club. She was also a teaching assistant. Yairy plans to attend Bristol Community College to earn a Spanish/English Community Interpreting certificate and then transfer to a 4-year college or university.

10. Cayla J. Rivera

Rivera is the daughter of Brunilda and Carlos Rivera. She was a member of the jazz group GLCPS. She has also served on the Directory Committee and the Senior Planning Committee. Cayla’s college plan is to attend Bristol Community College for two years and then transfer to Bridgewater State University. She chose Early Childhood Education as her major with a minor in Business Management.
